Captain Jerry Williams

Captain Williams is a twenty-three year veteran of law enforcement. He has served as the Captain of the Polk County Detention Center since March 2016. He was also the Project Manager of the new Law Enforcement Complex from the beginning of construction to finish. 

Prior to Captain Williams’ time at Polk County Sheriff’s Office, he was promoted through the ranks of Corporal, Sergeant, and finally as the Administrative Lieutenant with the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office.  He also served as a Police Officer with Tryon Police Department and Columbus Police Department.  

Captain Williams holds his Advanced Detention Certification through North Carolina Sheriff’s Education Training and Standards Division, and Advanced Law Enforcement Certification through North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission. He has received numerous awards, commendations, achievements, and has over 2100 continuing education hours. 

Prior to Captain Williams’ law enforcement career, he was a volunteer firemen for 18 years at Blue Ridge Fire and Rescue. On his free time, Captain Williams enjoys working in construction, grading, and as a mechanic. Captain Williams is a Native of Henderson County and currently resides in Saluda, North Carolina.
